Working with Hard Aspects

Hard aspects can be considered complicated or challenging aspects, but they’re opportunities to explore strong features of our chart. The main hard aspects are called oppositions and squares.

Planets in opposition live across the chart wheel from each other, facing off in a celestial push-and-pull. When two planets are in opposition, it may feel like a seesaw, but it provides an opportunity to harness the best of both energies.

Planets that are square meet at 90º, which can feel like they’re blocking each other from expressing themselves fully. They’re literally squaring off, each planet in its own corner of the sky. But what feels like friction is actually an opportunity for action. Each planet is solid and confident and gives you a firm base to build on. When you understand a square in your chart, you can use it to your advantage!
